Bongani Zongu in hot water about his exclusion in Bafana Squad.
Ntseki named a 25-man Bafana squad for their back-to-back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe in March, with Zungu having been one of the surprise omissions.
This appeared to have left the France-based star bemused as, just hours after the squad announcement, he tweeted ‘Wow’, coupled with a laughing emoji; but following some criticism, the tweet was later deleted.
During an online press conference with The South African Football Journalists Association, Jordaan opened up on the issue and assured that things will be sorted out, with Zungu having asked to be repatriated along with national teammate Lebogang Phiri.
“I phoned Zungu and spoke to him. In fact, I spoke to him on Saturday because he told me his team has been relegated and he wants to come back to the country now – both him and Lebogang Phiri,”
“And he wants us to speak to the government to assist them to come home, because of the lockdown and there’s no international flights, so it’s something that we’ll work on.
“When he arrives in the country, and we have time during the lockdown… I don’t want to tell you what he said but, of course, he did apologise and we will deal with the matter when he’s in South Africa.
“Sometimes players cannot deal with the disappointment once they get dropped, and he was very clear that he did not expect to get dropped, so it was a huge shock for him
“I don’t want to repeat the conversation but, I asked him why? And we had a good conversation and we will continue, but I did give feedback.
