It is still illegal to make use of hairdressers.

National Police spokesperson, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo, says it is still illegal to make use of hairdressers – even at one’s home during lockdown. This comes after alerts surrounding a trend where hairdressers or barbers are operating on a small scale to clients in the comfort of their own homes. Naidoo says according to regulations – this is in direct contravention of social distancing:

“Going to people’s houses as individuals to render this kind of service is unacceptable because in the first place there should be no visiting taking place at all, let alone for the purpose of providing somebody with hairdressing or beautician services. So that would be a gross transgression of the regulations and people can be arrested or fined for that.”
